Agriro SRL is a producer from Bihor County, Romania, selling under the Oliveris and agrirofresh brands. They chose us for their first in-store promotion in Hungary – a test campaign to see how Hungarian shoppers would respond to the range.
The brief: a new brand, three stores, real feedback
When a brand appears on the shelf for the first time, sampling is more than a sales push: it is the first conversation with the shopper. The client asked for three things – let shoppers taste the products, run the promotion in three stores, and come away with measurable feedback, not just impressions.
Products sampled:
- SHAKE & GO Caesar – salad cup, 150 g
- SHAKE & GO Mexico – salad cup, 150 g
- Ready Caesar salad bowl – 210 g
The approach: one counter, three stores, three days in a row
- 29 October: Auchan Maglód
- 30 October: Auchan Dunakeszi
- 31 October: Auchan Budaörs
Sampling ran from 2 pm to 6 pm each day. Our brand ambassador arrived at 1:30 pm so the counter was ready at opening time. We moved the branded counter from store to store ourselves – Maglód to Dunakeszi, then on to Budaörs – so logistics never landed on the client’s desk.
We sampled open product, so food hygiene was non-negotiable: gloves, a clean counter and small tasting portions. Our managing director, Patrik Veress, was on site at the stand as well.
Measurable feedback: a QR-code survey at the stand
After tasting, shoppers scanned a QR code at the stand and filled in a short survey on their own phones. Over three days we collected 105 completed surveys.
Two of the numbers are about our own work, and we are happy to share them:
- shoppers rated our brand ambassador’s friendliness and product information 4.99 out of 5;
- 87% of respondents met the brand for the first time at this promotion – the campaign genuinely reached new shoppers.
The product-related answers went straight to the client. They are the client’s business data, so we do not publish them here.
The result: a report the client can act on
At the end of the campaign we delivered an Excel report with charts summarising the survey results, plus a separate list of shopper ideas and suggestions. For a test campaign, that is exactly the point: the next step can be decided on data.
Launching a food product with in-store sampling? Four things to plan for
- Hygiene: with open product, gloves and a clean counter are visible to every shopper – they judge the brand by it too.
- Measurement: a QR-code survey at the stand adds little effort and leaves you with real numbers at the end.
- Logistics: if you sample in several stores back to back, plan how the counter travels.
- Reporting: ask for a summary at the end, so the next decision rests on data.
